In this video i will show you how to cut miters for picture frames by explaining several steps. Learn how to cut perfect 45 degree miters for picture frames. Step two find level across the wall. Use the appropriate blade for the materials being cut.

When making picture frame moulding the trick to measuring the length needed is to account for the miter cuts you make. Place the stick of moulding against the saw fence. Take a 2 3 piece of decorative moulding and cut an inward facing 45 degree angle in one end to match the baseboard. When you make a miter cut on a board that is 1 3 4 wide the inside edge of the board is about 1 3 4 shorter than the outside edge.

Line this up on one side of your cut piece of baseboard as pictured above making the decorative piece overhang the top of the baseboard by 25 5. Next hold a level against the wall and draw a horizontal line across the wall. Practice making precision cuts on scrap wood before making the final cuts for your frame pieces. You will feel the pivot arm drop down and lock in as it finds.
